Prevention campaigns are essential to detect diseases on their early stages, since early diagnosis and treatment improves quality and life expectancy in most pathologies.

At ACVLAB Laboratory we develop different campaigns throughout the year and provide informative support material. These campaigns are presented by areas of clinical interest or population groups, and are very easy to adapt to the health plans of each center.

April Campaign

During the month of April we check-up the pets that need the most attention after years by our side. Although our elder pets accumulate different issues as time goes by, this stage of life should also be enjoyed in a healthy way.

Knowledge of age-specific pathologies and prevention through personalized periodic check-ups allow the clinical veterinarian to ensure the best quality of life.

Diagnosis and Endocrine Monitoring

June Campaign

During the month of June we pay special attention to the study of endocrine diseases. This group of diseases affects chemical mediators that regulate normal biological functioning of vertebrates. Any imbalance affects different body systems and apparatus. Confirmation of these diseases is based on dynamic studies and hormonal quantification, together with specific biochemical and hematological profiles of each process. At ACVLAB, we implement two strategies: endocrine diagnosis profiles and scheduled review profiles.

General Endocrine Profile: Sometimes these diseases present non-specific signs, so it is necessary to have a generic diagnostic approach profile that can reveal signs of Diabetes, Adrenal or Thyroid alteration.

Specific Endocrine Profiles: For those patients who present a more defined clinical picture, we have created Diabetes Profiles, Thyroid Profiles for Hyper or Hypothyroidism, and Adrenal Profiles for Addison’s Disease or Cushing’s Syndrome.

Control and follow-up profiles: Treatment of these diseases requires analytical control for an adequate adjustment of the dose of medicines, and strict monthly, quarterly or six-monthly monitoring, depending on the case.

Autumn Campaign

During the last quarter of the year our campaigns focus on the early diagnosis of infectious diseases by checking symptomatic and asymptomatic animals. This annual check-up continues to be the most appropriate method for the epidemiological control of these kinds of diseases, especially after the summer.

In the current epidemiological context, the control of these diseases plays a special role. Different autonomous communities have established compulsory check-up plans. At ACVLAB we have been carrying out these check-ups for decades through our Autumn Campaign for diagnosis and control of infectious diseases. Along with these serological studies we include a full health check-up with hematology, biochemistry and serum protein electrophoresis.

The diagnosis of infectious diseases is crucial not only for the individual treatment of each affected patient, as infectious diseases have the capacity for direct or indirect transmission and even to humans (zoonosis).

March Campaign

During the first quarter of the year there is a follow-up campaign for infectious patients undergoing treatment available for our clients. These patients require strict check-ups that anticipate the usual secondary complications of the treatment or inherent to the development of the disease itself. The analytical profile included in these follow-ups checks the functioning of vital organs and allows the clinical condition of each patient to be established. With these studies the veterinarian has enough data to adjust the treatment minimizing the adverse effects and thus improve the clinical prognosis of the disease.
